What the record says
- Product
- BCS AUTOMOTIVE INTERFACE STEERING COLUMN CONTROL - Recall 23E088000
- Reason
- BCS Automotive Interface Solutions US, Ltd. (BCS Automotive) submitted a non-compliance information report based upon the recall determinations made by Ford Motor Company (23V-847) and Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) (Stellantis) (24V-199). Certain steering column control modules (SCCM) installed into vehicles have electrical functions that may fail and deactivate the driver's air bag. As such, vehicles with certain SCCMs installed fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection." A deactivated air bag cannot deploy as intended during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
