How recall records work

Use the notice that matches your product, not a headline alone.

A record is a starting point

Compare the brand, product, package identifiers and dates with the agency notice. A similar product name does not establish that your particular package is included.

Sources cover different products

FDA enforcement records, FDA company announcements, CPSC consumer-product notices and NHTSA vehicle campaigns have different fields and publication dates. USDA FSIS covers meat, poultry and processed egg products; an unavailable source is shown in our coverage report.

Reported status has limits

FDA warns that enforcement status may not be updated after classification and does not necessarily describe the current recall lifecycle. This site reports that field literally and does not infer that an unlisted product is safe.
