As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection." In the event of a crash, an incorrectly installed frame bracket may not provide adequate protection to an unbelted passenger, increasing the risk of injury.
