The windshield frame stud sealant, which retains the stud connecting the windshield frame to the body, may not have been installed, which can reduce body structure performance and roof strength. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 216, "Roof Crush Resistance" and 214, "Side Impact Protection." A body structure that does not perform as intended and a roof with insufficient strength may not adequately protect occupants in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
